Who broke the apartment window?

Riddles and puzzles are great exercises for your brain.  Research shows that constant brain exercise can even help prevent Alzheimer ’s disease.  If you have a minute, try to figure this one out and post your explanation as a comment.  I’ll post the answer sometime next week.  Let’s see who the real brainiacs of Westmont at Chesterfield are! =)

Ronny, Bobby, Ricky, Mike, and Ralph are brothers. One day, one of them broke an apartment window. When their father asked them who did it, they gave the following answers:
Ronny: “It was Bobby or Ricky.”
Bobby: “It was neither Mike nor me.”
Ricky: “Both of you are lying.”
Ralph: “No, only one of them is lying.”
Mike: “No, Ralph, you are wrong.”
Then their mother added: “Three of my sons are telling the truth, but I do not believe what the two others said.”

We’re all aware of the tragedy that Haiti is going through due to the horrific earthquake that hit the island-nation last month.  We’ve been inundated with images and soundbites that chronicle the devastation, while also serving to remind us that there are those out there much less fortunate than us.

While Missouri is miles and miles away from Haiti, it’s hard not to think about how we can help their situation, even if only a little bit.  Here is a story in the Southeast Missourian about how a few St. Louis doctors, philanthropists and even a Chesterfield based humanitarian organization called Wings of Hope pitched in to help save the leg of a young Haitian boy in desperate need of their care.  It’s a great testament to the age old adage “every little bit counts.”  Truly inspiring!

Rams Could Get New Owners

ramsvschiefsLooks like ownership for the St. Louis Rams is transferring to Illinois, but the team is staying put. That’s what the St. Louis Post-Dispatch says anyway. Illinois businessman Shahid Khan has entered into an agreement to purchase the team from Chip Rosenbloom and Lucia Rodriguez.

Khan, who is 55, serves as the president of Flex-N-Gate Corp, an auto-parts manufacturer in Urbana, Ill. hopes to be the new controlling stake owner of the St. Louis Rams.

The deal must be approved by NFL owners and Stan Kroenke, who owns 40 percent of the team, has first refusal rights to the others shares. Rosenbloom and Rodriguez own 60 percent of the team after inheriting the shares from their late mother, Georgia Frontiere.

The Rams ended their season with a 1-15 record, the worst in the NFC.

What do you think of the possible sale?

Dine Out for Valentine’s Day

whitechocolateheartAre you looking for a romantic spot to wine and dine for Valentine’s Day? Reservations may be hard to get for Sunday, so start your search today.

Remember you can celebrate Valentine’s Day any day, so don’t let the calendar make your final decision for you. It is also important to keep in mind what your sweetheart would want, which means if it would please him/her then McDonalds can be just as romantic as Paul Manno’s Café.

For those not in the fast food line though, you should check out Annie Gunn’s Restaurant, Tachibana, The Butterfly House or the Ritz-Carlton in Clayton. Management at the Ritz-Carlton have the rose petals ready for you and your date.

Where will you be spending your Valentine’s Day?

The Saints or the Colts? Make Your Prediction

manning2Regardless of who you are pulling for, the game on Sunday is sure to be a great one. This Super Bowl matches up the two best teams of the season. The New Orleans Saints are trying to win their very first Super Bowl in franchise history. The Indianapolis Colts are trying to avoid a very long winter and speculation of hwo they let this amazing season go to waste.

brees1To be fair though, both teams will be questioned when they lose. They spent the majority of the season undefeated. They only lost late into the season and they dismantled teams like they were lawn furniture.

Who do you think will win? I’m going for the Colts. Feel free to disagree or agree.

Tips on Going Green for the Super Bowl

football partyI’m so ready for the Super Bowl. In addition to watching a great game, I get to spend some time with family and friends. Are you having people over? I was online looking for ways to go green for the Super Bowl and was excited to see how easy it was going to be. Skip the paper plates and use your own.

Even if you don’t have enough, have a friend bring extra. This doesn’t mean everyone has to bring their own plate, just having one person help out should be enough. One more option is to not over prepare your menu. Keep things simple with a chili/hot dog combo or make a few pizzas. Just don’t keep the oven on all night. Here are some more tips.
